Day Seven - Last Day
Last night the church asked that the men and women sleep in separate rooms. No one protested. The next morning, the men discussed how their room had been a symphony of manly noises that no woman’s ears should ever be subjected to. Perhaps it was for the best.
Our police escort out of Plainfield didn’t show up on schedule, so we took to the road without them as one massive group. Leaving the city, Dionne and Austin started cranking away and shot out ahead of the group. I hugged their back wheel and followed them out, as did others. About a half dozen of us did a group time trial for the next 10 miles.
We got to the regrouping location at mile 15 and took group photos. Then our police escort showed up! Riding through Indy with police sirens blaring is always a good time. At the end we had pie and ice cream, and listened to speeches from the leaders of the rides. It was a fun day.
They had a bus for those of us who needed to get back to Lafayette. I read more of my novel the way up, nearly finished it. I still have 30 pages to go.
It was a fun day :)
